A Photo a Day #60

My aim here was to re-create a Nighthawks-style scene. It was 11:30 at night and I loved the warmth of the light from the window against the grey of the building. I used a 'miniature' editing feature, which helped to pull the focus onto the people in the window and detract from the inevitable noise due to the low light conditions outside.

A Photo a Day #40

Another in my mini series which takes inspiration from famous artworks. These fabulous earrings are from the Sharima Aperture collection from Stilnest. They feature an art deco inspired design with the option to wear the 'lash' motif on the back of the earring or take it off and just wear the 'eyes' as normal studs.

Whilst eagerly awaiting the delivery of these stunning earrings, I got the idea to do this shot. It took a lot of playing around to get the result I did; the head position isn't perfect, but I did achieve some of the shadows and light of the original. Studying Johannes Vermeer's painting was good fun and it made me remember how enjoyable it is to immerse yourself in paintings- something I did a lot of as an art student when I was a teenager.

A Photo a Day #35

I'm really quite excited about this 'series within a series' project! The photo of the apple was really just a photo in the moment (completely unplanned), but when I titled that one after Magritte and saw the opportunity with the Ritz Cracker packaging to do a Warhol-esque colouring, I knew this could be a fun idea.

I have lots of plans ahead for other art-inspired photos so watch this space!
