A Photo a Day 2020 #315

Taken the day after the Lockdown was announced and before the Thursday that it started. I think many felt that familiar feeling of lack of control over our lives and impending bleakness.

A Photo a Day 2020 #311

So, with the second Lockdown now in place, here I am at the end of the day- granted, a sunny one- in a classroom having got through a day of illness. No, not the coughy one, but a giddy-head bug type of thing (the usual half termly illness). Now to bed.

A Photo a Day 2020 #284

I'm in bed feeling rough today, so this is something I found from the Summer when life was slower and I could experiment with make-up and nails! What a joy! When you feel a bit low (as many of us did at times in lockdown), self care can go some way to boosting your mood. My nails never looked so great as over that period. Now they're stumpy and dull again as I'm back to the stressful day (and let's face it, evening and weekend) job.

A Photo a Day 2020 #202

I have a few masks now that I wear when in shops. It is not yet compulsory, but I have them, so I wear them. This is my only 'snazzy' mask! I did take a smiley version of this shot, but the eyes and the mask were crisper in this shot. I also think it conveys how many of us feel about the mask situation: apprehensive perhaps, but determined to get through this time, willing to make any adjustments necessary to help stop the spread and return to some kind of functioning situation.

I'll be honest, motivation is brief at the moment. I will post every day, but the quality and content will vary-- that's the name of the game with this project. I did it in 2017 and found the same. But unlike 2017, we're here in pandemic times. It's ok, but the pace is different. I think I needed to have gone for a walk by now. I'll run later.

Maisie is here though, and when she's here everything is better.

A Photo a Day 2020 #168

This was a re-shot of an original photo. Both photos had their merits and both I am not 100% happy with! There is something incongruent here which is interesting, but I wish I had a model who was better at blowing bubbles and had a more interesting face.

A Photo a Day 2020 #167

Can pink reflect a blue mood? If it can, I think that's what this picture is showing. I just took it moments before typing this and wanted this to be titled as part of the Lockdown series of photos (which I have neglected for a long while). I think Lockdown was this new and novel thing, but now we're hip-deep in it, it's wearing thin some days-- and that's coming from someone who likes their own company.

Summer

I've played around with colour here in post production (fading bits and amping bits), but, yes, my eyes were disgustingly bloodshot and sore. Using a macro lens, this was a shot that focused on the lashes, blurring the eyeball a bit, which gave the colours more of a pastel look that I thought was interesting.
