Lockdown: Day Seven (290320)

This was the first time I went for a run after lockdown started. It was an odd and liberating moment as I had come through some illness and had not been to the gym in many weeks. I therefore wasn't able to squeeze in any visits before the final closures.

I haven't been great at exercising at home and have lost some of the strength I started to build up. The gym really helped me to focus on exercise and I miss it. But I have been walking and doing the odd small run. We can only do our best!

My Scary Friend

My friend was trying out one of those charcoal face masks and I captured her trying to terrorise me with it on. The result of the slower shutter speed here is fabulously frightening!

A Photo a Day #310: Flashback Sunday

Joan

This was taken (I think) by my dad. This is his mother and my Nanna, Joan. She was a major influence in my life.

I didn't improve much on the original as it was already a great photo, but I did tint it and brighten a few areas.

Lady with Bag

People milling around looking at art are good subjects for portraits. I'm not sure whether I'm 100% happy with the outcome of my editing, but I had to do something with the background as even with a wide aperture shot, the T shirt logo was detracting from the woman's skirt design.

A Photo a Day #75

Man About Town
I took a similar photo of my brother in London a few years ago and I took opportunity to create this portrait on my recent trip when we went to see The Divine Comedy. I'm not sure what I think about the blurring. On one hand it suggests some movement as he strolls through the underpass; on the other it isn't as crisp as I would have liked. As it was an evening shot and also not posed, I had to work quickly. Unfortunately, I had to crop out someone walking past him to the right, so there isn't as much width as I would have liked. I do, however, like the range of tones in the image.
