90s Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully) X Files Make-up

I've been watching The X Files recently and admiring Gillian Anderson. Her 'matchy' make-up style against her red hair is the inspiration for this look. Being a neutral lover, this is exactly the kind of face I like to wear in the daytime and as we both have pale skin, the peachy, brown neutrals work well. Here's how I achieved the look:

For a base, I went for the Kiehl's Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream (in Fair) which is a very sheer coverage and allows freckles to be seen- exactly the appeal of this natural make-up. This also has SPF50, so for pale skin it is perfect. This does give a bit of a shiny finish, which I tamed with some powder. 90s skin was rarely very dewy and I didn't want any obvious 'glow' for this look. I applied a little concealer under the eyes; Gillian was in her 20s when she started filming the X Files and her skin was (and actually still is) really fresh-looking without appearing to wear much make-up.

For the cheeks, I chose Mac's Tenderling which is a beautiful matte neutral beige/ brown. It's really muted, but imparts the peachy tone of Gillian's cheeks in her role as Dana Scully. To tie in with this beautifully, Mac's Modelette eyeshadow was swept all over the eyelid with nothing else. This peachy-brown satin is so smooth and natural. It also is great for blue eyes due to the peach tone(mine are more green, but it still compliments them well enough). Unfortunately Modelette was a limited edition shade from yonks ago, but I can imagine Kid would be a good alternative.

I used Mememe's eyeliner pencil in the shade Clay (a greyish brown) really subtly on the outer corners of the lower lash line because I didn't want anything other than subtle definition. Maybelline's Lash Sensational mascara was a good option for this look because it separates really well without ridiculous amounts of volume. I only applied two coats, however it can be built up if you want thicker lashes. For brows, I used my Anastasia Brow Wiz in Taupe which is a light colour and therefore fills in without overkill; Gillian's 90s eyebrows are natural and fairly thick, but they do not look 'done' at all.

For the lips, I found a good match to Gillian's brown nude- Maybelline's Colour Sensational lipstick in Coffee Craze (shade 740). It is a moisturising, cream formula with the perfect 90s brown hues to it. I received this in a Glossybox and have not worn it much yet, but I actually think it's a good wearable colour for the daytime if you pick the right shades to compliment it in the rest of your make-up.

I really love this style and think it would suit redheads really well. What do you think?
