Review: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

This is a review for a mascara by Too Faced with big claims! The title is, in my opinion, a little daft, but Too faced aren't the first (and won't be the last) to give their products raunchy names! I guess sex sells? Well it must have worked on me, because I bought it!
The mascara has a large, hourglass-shaped wand. It's a bristle brush rather than one of the plastic variety. Personally, I like plastic bristles for the separation they give, but this seems to separate just fine. On top of this, the mascara gives length and volume as promised- and impressive length and volume at that! I have found that it can also be built up with minimal clumping, so you can achieve dramatic results with this mascara if that is what you are looking for.

The formulation is thick and a bit goopy, but not in a nasty, sticky way. The problem is that, with the size of the brush, it means that it always transfers onto my upper lash line during application. This was the drawback of this mascara for me. The effect it gives is really great, but I always have to have a cotton bud handy to clean up after application (which you can see I had to do in the bottom photo below as some of my eyeshadow is patchy!) For this reason, YSL Faux Cils and Babydoll, along with Benefit's They're Real are superior when it comes to the higher end mascaras I use to create volume.

I already have long and curly lashes, so I cannot comment on how this would work for shorter lashes, although I imagine it would work well based on research I did into the mascara online before I parted with my cash.

At £16, this is not cheap, but it does feel luxurious to use because of the thick, black formula and the large, but effective brush head. I would possibly re-purchase if it was on offer, but other than that I think the luxury mascaras I already mentioned above are better than Better Than Sex!

Have you tried this product? Does it live up to its wild claims?!
