Review: Lancôme Juicy Shakers (Boom-meringue and Freedom of Peach)

The latest lip product to excite beauty-lovers are the Lancôme Juicy Shakers. These lip oils come in a range of colours of which I purchased two: Freedom of Peach and Boom-meringue.
The Juicy Shakers work by shaking them up (like a cocktail shaker) to mix the oil and pigment inside. They are applied by dabbing the pleasingly spongy applicator onto the lips to deposit subtle colour and shine. Having tried to build more colour, I have found that these are hard to build. The colours I picked are some of the lighter shades and I found them to be quite similar in colour once on the lips, also less-pigmented than I'd hoped for. Freedom of Peach is a bright peach shade which applies a very subtle peach to the lips; Boom-meringue is a blue-toned candy pink.

The products are scented to match their names, therefore they are peach and candy scented- a nice touch which makes them pleasant to use. In addition, the applicator is quite unique and, although not the most hygiene-friendly, feels nice to apply to the lips. As a side-note, I would watch how you go about shaking them in public; my partner saw me shaking mine in the car when he was paying for parking and he thought I was giving him the wonka sign!
Overall, I will certainly enjoy using these, being a lip balm addict, however I do not feel they are necessarily worth the price tag. The shades I have verge on being too subtle and the oil is light and therefore doesn't last too long on the lips. They provide a light relief from dryness, but don't compare to a good nourishing lip balm or a non-sticky gloss. To me, these are more about the novelty and cute packaging (like a toy for make-up fiends!) I cannot speak for the darker shades, but if you love novel products, they might be worth a go.
I have to agree with you on these. I have two of them and I also think they are not moisturizing for the price tag and don't give even a real stain to the lips. I will not be buying another one. I hope I can go through these and not let them just sit and get old. For the price tag I would be so upset!
Ohh this doesnt seem like a lancome type of product at all! It's cute how ti smells of peach :)

They're cute and fun, but nothing AMAZING in my opinion! x

ReplyDeleteI am slowly using mine, but I don't reach for them too regularly. They certainly are pricey!
