Products I've Used Up: February 2015

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel:
I only fell in love with this once it started to run out! For the first three months or so of owning it, I didn't like it very much at all; now I want to re-purchase it at some point in the future! The reason why I didn't get on with it to begin with was because I was using it wrongly: I was massaging it into a wet face, rather than on dry skin. On dry skin, it feels like a nourishing, luxurious oil; on wet skin it is a thin milky texture which does very little. For a morning cleanse, this is fabulous.

Eve Lom Cleanser:
This was a 50ml pot which I treated myself to around Christmas as part of a discounted gift set. This stuff is ridiculously expensive, but really lovely. It is stiffer in texture than my favourite Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm and has a grainy texture which is good for exfoliation. I would not re-purchase this, unless it was discounted because the price is too high for something that is not quite as good as cheaper balms.

Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser:
This is a lighter, smoother variation on the above, and again something I purchased at a discount as part of a set. I actually enjoyed using this more than the original formulation; I found it just as nourishing and had the same spa-like scent.

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm:
This 125ml tub is more generous in size and cheaper than Emma Hardie. It's a good product which is not highly scented like other balms on the market. It also feels easier to rinse off, which makes it easy to use. I would buy this again for the price and efficiency, however it isn't top of my list to re-purchase.

Paula's Choice Super Antioxidant Serum:
This serum feels fantastic on the skin, it has a silky texture that leaves a beautiful base for make-up. It does, however, contain silcones to achieve this feel. I have not found that I have suffered negative side effects, and many people will only see improvements in their skin, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Paula Begoun makes good, comprehensive skincare and I have been using some of her products for years, but she is critical of other brands and therefore it is only fair to look objectively at hers. Although I'm no expert, it is well-known that silicones can block pores and cause breakouts in some people and this product has silcones high up on the ingredients list. I personally love this serum and have already re-purchased the newer formulated version (I'd owned the previous tube for years). I don't use it day and night, so maybe that's why it has caused me no problems; under foundation (which can easily cling to my sahara-skin), this is a fantastic primer.

Ojon Thickening shampoo and conditioner:
I really liked these two together. Both are light and really smoothing and nourishing. You can feel that when you wash your hair, these products have a softening effect, and the lightness of them promotes volume when your hair dries. I bought these on a buy one get one free at Boots as they are pricey. I might buy them again as they were lovely to use.

Rituals Fortune Scrub:
This body scrub came with my Youbeauty advent calendar and I was sad when it ran out. This smells of oranges and boosted my mood every time I used it. The texture is thicker and creamier than most scrubs and I just read that this is because it is a combination of scrub and body cream. I would go as far as to say this is one of the best scrubs I've ever used and I just wish it was easier to get hold of.

Have you tried any of these products?
