She's just the most wonderful creature in the world and I love her so much.

Glamcat |
I entered this into a photo competition last year. I've since amped up the pink for this month's theme. This was a fluke, a photo taken when Maisie was sat in the window on a sunny day and the light formed these patterns which made her look very glam rock when edited. I like this photo.

The Lost One |
She's gone from being a sleepy house cat (most of the time) to a dirty stop out over the last few weeks. It's a bit sad, but she's young and she heard the lockdown was being eased, so she's disowned us now.

Maisie aged 4 1/2 |
This cat is everything in our house. She looks fierce, but she is a tender and loving girl who is sleeping humbly at my feet as I type. Pets are so therapeutic, especially during lockdown.

Beast in the Undergrowth |
A lot of cat pictures this month, but then my new daily routine involves working from home and taking our cat on a daily walk.
Today she decided to hide in the undergrowth from the dogs and their owners walking around the park! She might think she's a fierce mouser at times, but she is really a timid little softy!

Little Panther |
This may well become an outlet for photos of my gorgeous cat over the next few months! As we are currently self-isolating as a precaution, we are taking walks for some degree of fresh air and sanity. Maisie joined us for a walk yesterday. She is just like a little puppy, with all the perks and none of the drawbacks like picking up her pooh!
Look at her here prowling towards us through the woods. She is such an amazing girl.

Yellow Iris |
This was cropped from a larger picture of Maisie. Her eye colour has been enhanced a small amount because she was right in front of a window and the light bleached out the beautiful yellowy colour. I absolutely adore her face.

Triptych of the Week #10

Snowcat |
____________________________________________________________________________________
As a follow on from last week, here are some high contrast black and white shots of our cat, Maisie, in the snow.
At two years old, she has never seen anything like this before and although she bravely explored, she didn't really like the freezing cold on her paws for very long.
As we haven't had proper snow in this part of the country for years, I was holding out for a time when I would get to photograph Maisie in it. She looked majestic contrasted against the white and I brought this out as much as possible in the bookend photos of the triptych using the black and white shoot mode on my camera.

Triptych of the Week #4

Saturday Morning |
_____________________________________________________________________________________
I shot in black and white yesterday morning. Saturday mornings are always such a relief: not having to get up at 6am and getting some time to myself. The slow pace of a Saturday morning is what I wanted to convey with this triptych. I had quite a few photos of Maisie to choose from, but I liked the silhouette of her in the photo I chose. I turned up the exposure to capture a crisper shot and I particularly liked the stripey top in the background.
The first shot is not particularly original or exciting, but as this was going to be self portrait photography, I wanted to have a photo that opened the narrative of waking up. The shadows in the photo help to get that across.
I obviously had to wear that stripey top today! I got a tripod for Christmas, so I set it up and started playing. It's a bit of a luxury to have time to do my make-up and hair on the weekend. Usually I'm bleary-eyed and in a rush. Being childless has its perks and I find the whole process of doing my skincare routine, make-up and hair very cathartic. The tripod enabled me to actually snap away while I was doing my routine. There were a lot of shots to choose from, but I chose this one because I liked the texture of the brushed, damp hair, particularly the lines which link to the other lines in the images.

Maisie, eyeing up a bauble on the tree. She's been quite good so far, but she's had a few ornaments down.

Guardian |
Maisie is looking after me as I am unwell. She's been sleeping at my feet, cuddling me. I couldn't ask for a sweeter little girl. Since she's turned two years old, she's become a lot more cuddly and affectionate; she's started sitting on laps if encouraged and will happily sleep close to me, letting me pet her. Cats are so good for your sense of wellbeing.

Cat-Shaped |
Black cats are the epitome of feline beauty- the silhouette is emphasised and the sophistication of the cat's physique is highlighted. This photo doesn't really achieve quite what I wanted it to, but nevertheless it shows off my cat's lovely big ears and fluffy fur!
