A Photo a Day 2020 #155

Summer

I've played around with colour here in post production (fading bits and amping bits), but, yes, my eyes were disgustingly bloodshot and sore. Using a macro lens, this was a shot that focused on the lashes, blurring the eyeball a bit, which gave the colours more of a pastel look that I thought was interesting.

Yellow Iris

This was cropped from a larger picture of Maisie. Her eye colour has been enhanced a small amount because she was right in front of a window and the light bleached out the beautiful yellowy colour. I absolutely adore her face.

Green Iris

It's probably apparent that I am drawn to eyes. Ever since I studied art at school, as many young artists do, I used to draw eyes. The first thing I tend to notice about people is their eyes-- the colour, the patterns, the shape, the emotions of the individual, the way they do or don't hold eye contact when talking; eyes tell you a lot about someone. Look into this eye, what do you see?

Haggard Grey
The purplish-grey of my under eye circles are something I try to cover up. But sadly, you cannot cover up the aging process completely (and why should we anyway?)

I was always fascinated by eyes as a young person and art student, always studying and drawing eyes. Even now, they are one of the first things I notice when meeting people.

A Photo a Day #274

Green-eyed Monster

This is a shot that I took while messing around and trying some different 'self-portrait' shots. I liked the blurring in this particular shot because the bokeh effect appeared as blue and yellow circles. Not a pretty representation of green eyes, but an interesting one.

A Photo a Day #4

Window
Taken before I owned a macro lens, but nevertheless a fun one to play around with in editing. It'll be interesting to compare how my new lens compares to the standard one I used for this. I deliberately added a subtle focus on the reflection and amped up the green a little bit.
